Tour itinerary
Arrival in Dushanbe
Transfer from the airport to the hotel (check-in after 2:00 PM). Free time.
Dushanbe. Excursion
United Museum of Tajikistan, Botanical Garden, oriental bazaar. Free lunch (not included). Drive to and visit the former residence of the viceroy of the Emir of Bukhara (30 km) – the Hissar Fortress.
Dushanbe – Iskanderkul – Penjikent (280 km, 4-5 hours)
Drive to the high-altitude Lake Iskanderkul, located at an altitude of 2,195 meters in the Fann Mountains. Easy hike to a 43-meter waterfall, locally known as “Fan Niagara.” Lunch (included). Transfer to Penjikent.
Penjakent – Seven Lakes – Penjakent (80km + 80km)
Transfer to the Seven Lakes (Khaf-Kul in Tajik) in the Shing River Valley. The largest lake is Marguzor. Each lake is characterized by its own distinct water color. In some, the water changes color throughout the day or depending on the weather. Lunch (included). Return to Penjakent.
Penjakent – Istaravshan – Khujand (260 km, 6-7 hours)
Transfer to Khujand, once one of the Silk Road trading centers. En route, stop in Istaravshan (formerly Ura-Tyube). Excursion: Mug-Tepa ancient settlement, Khazrati Shokh complex, Khudoyor Bal’ami mausoleum, and the oldest bazaar. Continuation to Khujand (80 km). Free lunch (not included).
Khujand. Excursion
Museum of Archaeology and Fortification (Medieval Khujand Fortress), Pushkin Square with Kamoli Khujandi Square (Somoni Square), Timur Malik Fortress and the Sogd Museum, the Muslikhiddin Memorial Complex, and the Panjshanbe Bazaar. Then, transfer to the Kairokum Reservoir on the Syr Darya River for a walk. Return to Khujand. Lunch is free (not included).
Khujand. Departure
Transfer to the airport three hours before departure.
