Tour itinerary

Arrival in Bishkek

Arrival in Bishkek. Transfer from the airport to the hotel (check-in at 2:00 PM). Excursion: Victory Square, Ala-Too Central Square, Oak Park, the National Philharmonic Hall and the square in front of it. Free lunch (not included).

Bishkek – Ala-Archa – Chon-Kemin (230 km, 5-6 hrs)

Transfer to Ala-Archa National Park (45 km, 1 hour). Short hike through the gorge. Transfer to the Chon-Kemin Gorge. En route, stop in Tokmak (85 km, 1.5-2 hours) to visit the Burana Tower architectural complex. Upon arrival, check into a guesthouse. Dinner (included in the price).

Chon-Kemin – Cholpon-Ata (290 km, 5-5.5 hrs)

Three-hour horseback ride through the gorge. Lunch (included). Then transfer to the high-mountain lake Issyk-Kul, the second largest in the world. Hotel accommodation and dinner (included).

Cholpon-Ata – Grigorievskoye Gorge – Karakol (180 km, 3-3.5 hrs)

Excursion to Cholpon-Ata: the Ruh Ordo cultural center named after Chyngyz Aitmatov, the open-air petroglyph museum. Transfer to Grigorievskoye Gorge (60 km, 1-1.5 hours). A walk through the gorge, covered with blue and green spruce. Transfer to Karakol (formerly Przhevalsk) (120 km, 2-2.5 hours). Tour of Karakol: the wooden Holy Trinity Church and the Dungan Mosque, a magnificent example of Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) Chinese architectural style.

Karakol – Jeti-Oguz Gorge – Bokonbaevo – Bishkek (450 km, 8-9 hrs)

Transfer to Jeti-Oguz Gorge (translated from Kyrgyz as “Seven Bulls Gorge”). Walk through the gorge. Transfer to Bokonbaevo village (120 km, 2.5-3 hours) along the southern shore of Lake Issyk-Kul. Meeting with a berkutchi (golden eagle hunter). The hunter will tell the story of taming and training birds, and demonstrate how falcons are trained and used. Lunch (included in the price). Transfer to Bishkek.
